Obituary of Richard James Praught

Richard James Praught, age 86, of Alberry Plains passed away at the Kings County Memorial Hospital in Montague on February 19, 2024.

 

Left to mourn are siblings, Edna Quinn, Betty Hill, and Joan (Ted) Norris; brother-in-law, Vernon Doherty and special cousin, Genevieve (Gerard) Doherty. In his senior years, Richard married the love of his life, leaving to mourn his in-laws, Gerard Murphy (Karen), Mary Murphy, Verna Dunn, and Erma Pitre; and step-children, Darlene Creed, Scott Dunn (Jackie), Nancy MacRae (Stephen), Randy Dunn (Darlene), Jeff Dunn (Jennifer) and families. He will also be missed by many nieces and nephews who he cherished as his own children.  Richard is predeceased by his wife, Lorraine (Murphy); parents, John N. and Mary Genevieve (MacMillan) Praught; sister Rose Doherty; brother, Alban Peter; and brothers-in-law, Merlin Quinn and Patrick Hill.

 

Resting at Hillsboro Funeral Home, Stratford.  No visitation by request.  A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joachim’s Church, Vernon River on Thursday, February 22, 2024 at 10:30 a.m.  Interment to follow at a later date in the parish cemetery.
