William “Billy” Roy Murnaghan

William "Billy" Roy Murnaghan born to parents Roy Murnaghan & Alma (Gallant) Murnaghan – of Charlottetown P.E.I, passed away peacefully in Stouffville ONT on April 23rd 2020 in the presence of loved ones at the age of 82.  In his final years, Bill battled several diseases very courageously.

Preceded in death by his sisters Joyce Robbins and Eileen McCabe & brother-in-law Garnet Robbins. Bill will be lovingly remembered by his beloved partner Puri Diaz of Toronto and his 2 children Jorel and Sherry, son-in-law John Nolan, 2 grandchildren Kal-El Murnaghan and Robert Nolan, together with (mother of his children and friend) Marilyn Murnaghan, and his siblings Patricia Kelly (Raymond), David Campbell and Renie Webster (Garth).  Bill loved his family very much and sadly leaves behind many cherished friends, cousins, nieces and nephews as well.

As a prolific song writer, performer and award winning guitarist, Bill produced an enduring legacy of music.  As founder of the Tremtones and recipient of the Stompin’ Tom Connors Award (2008), he was honored to share this recognition with the band for innovation in music & making the East Coast music Industry strong and vibrant.  This was his true life passion and he always treasured his time with the "Tremmies" as well as the bonds he formed with each member.

Bill was a cerebral man with many hobbies & he truly loved traveling the world with his beloved Puri. His interests included electronics, politics, social justice, philosophy and of course all modalities of music.  He also loved being surrounded by the spontaneity and vibrancy of his grandsons.

In his memory :  May your pockets be heavy and your heart be light, may good luck pursue you each morning and night.
